Diploma of Leadership

Through the introduction of foundational principles for personal and professional leadership, ministry and theology, you will be equipped to lead in your area of influence, whilst being grounded in a robust Biblical and Theological foundation. You will be given the opportunity to practice Christian leadership principles in your chosen ministry stream and in a cross-cultural mission trip, solidifying theoretical principles with practical experience.

Future Pathways
The completed Diploma of Leadership can be used as credit equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor of Theology or Bachelor of Ministry.

Entry Requirements
Aged 21+ OR completion of Year 10

English Proficiency
Applicants whose entry qualifications were obtained in an institution where English is not the language of instruction normally require a minimum IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in all bands of the test. A student can be admitted provisionally into the Associate Degree of Theology and Ministry when they have an IELTS result of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in all bands of the test.

Subject Outline

Students completing the Diploma of Leadership will have read through the entire Bible, prepared and delivered a sermon, completed a course on the Foundations of Christian Doctrine, grown in their relationship with God, studied and received input from world class leaders and undertaken practical training through faithful servanthood in the various ministries and events of the Church.

Survey of the Old & New Testament (B5110p & B5150P)

Go deeper in God’s word with a thorough survey of the Bible. Taken in two units over the whole year, students will read through the entire Bible either individually or in groups. The lectures and assessments will focus on the books, authors, general themes, concepts, historical concepts and unifying theology of the Old and New Testaments. Students will be equipped with basic exegetical strategies to understand Scripture and will be challenged to apply the truths of Scripture to their personal lives and contemporary situations.

Introduction to Christian Doctrines (T5105P)

Introduction to Christian Doctrines is the foundational unit of Planetshakers College. It teaches a strong understanding for students to grow in their faith. Come discover what the Bible has to say about God, Creation and the Fall, the nature of humanity, angels and demons, the atonement and resurrection of Christ and much more.

Introduction to Christian Leadership (P5155P)
Introduction to Christian Leadership is a unit focused on self-leadership and personal discipleship. Students are taught spiritual disciplines, character integrity and basic self and small group leadership principles to equip them to serve the Church in greater capacity. This unit also covers the traits and behaviours of Biblically sound leadership, how to identify leaders in the real world and in turn, how to develop oneself as a leader.
Supervised Ministry 1 (P5171P)
An internship unit that allows students to learn the practice of ministry in the local church setting. This unit will build important skills regardless of which vocation students plan to pursue. Students may choose to pursue an internship in areas including the following: pastoral care, creative ministry, youth ministry and children’s ministry. This subject requires oversight from the referring church in order to provide a mentor for the student.
Transformational Leadership (P5161P)
Transformational Leadership teaches students how to apply basic leadership principles in a variety of Ministry and workplace environments. Covering topics like Natural Vs. Spiritual Leadership, the Art of Delegating and the Sacrifices of Leadership, students will learn practical skills as well as the theory behind leadership principles. The unit culminates in a panel with a variety of established leaders, to ensure students are learning what is used in workplaces today.
Basics of Pastoral Preaching (P5150P)
Basics of Pastoral Preaching is a unit which equips students with the tools to develop their communication skills. Not only do students learn about the art of preaching but they are given the tools to differentiate between skill and operating under the anointing. Students learn to tailor sermons in response to a variety of contexts and operate with the Holy Spirit in delivering the Gospel message. Basics of Pastoral Preaching is assessed by delivering a testimony, a sermon and a speech.
Person and Work of the Holy Spirit (T5116P)
This unit is a central part of the Diploma of Leadership at Planetshakers College and deals with our Pentecostal distinctives and philosophy of ministry. Students will study and prepare assessments about the Holy Spirit, but more than that, students will be trained to operate in the miraculous gifts of the Spirit. Each lecture and tutorial have both a scriptural and a practical component which will encourage students to grow in their understanding of the Move of the Spirit in an environment of encounter.
